Fearless : 18s Tigers

Two days out from the Nissan State Titles and the 18s are ready to go. Fearless, fun-loving and dynamic are some words Head Coach, Justin Wise used to describe the talented athletes that will be representing the Carina Leagues Club Tigers.

“Each training session the team is getting stronger and stronger. We have a good mix of experience and raw talent. I am most looking forward to the girls trying and learning new things that we have put in place.” Justin explained about the lead up to the tournament and what he is most looking forward to.

Justin was at the helm of the 16’s in 2021 and has been the Assistant Coach for the Ruby Team for the past two years but his coaching philosophy always remains the same. “My coaching philosophy is always centred around growth and development. What will change is the expectation turned into action a lot quicker as we have such short turn arounds between games.”

Recently announced as Captain, Jada Anstee is in her fourth year of representing the Tigers at the Nissan State Titles and was honoured to be named captain of the 2022 18’s Team. ” It’s an honour to be named captain of such a great bunch of girls. I have had many amazing captains and mentors at Tigers that I have learnt so much from and to be able to offer that back to these girls is a privilege.”

Whilst Jada has been an integral member of both Ruby and the under age Tigers. This will be Jada’s last year representing at the State Titles. “Being my fourth year representing tigers in this competition it has brought so many memories. I am definitely going to miss forming new friendships with the team and in general just playing the competition. This year I am looking forward to leaving everything  I’ve got on the court and I couldn’t be happier to finish my final year surrounded by my amazing teammates and coaches.”

The team has been training hard for a number of weeks now and Jada is excited about how the team has been preparing. “Our team is looking great. We have many new faces joining tigers this year. Each player has bought their strengths and enthusiasm to the team and I can not wait for us to hit it out on the court. Our coaches Justin, Matt, Brooke and manager Karen have been amazing. They have really prepared us for the competition and gelled our team together. Each week the girls have put in 100%, to make us the best team we can be.”

You can catch Jada and the 18’s in action starting Sunday, with game also being streamed live on Kayo.

Jada Anstee is supported by Pirtek for the 2022 season.
