Tia Crombie is in her first year as a member of the Carina Leagues Club Tigers squad. With her ability to be a dominant force in the goal circle and so much success already Tia will not only bring her height, she will bring the winning mentality to the squad.
Being one of the youngest team members, Tia is looking forward to a year of learning new skills and moves and utilising the older players within the group to understand how they work together to adapt to different defensive styles. Not only is Tia looking forward to learning with new and older players, she is excited to be able to learn off different coaching styles to help her improve her game.
Tia has some big goals for herself in 2022, but she is focussed on improving her individual fitness and growing as a player to have a better understanding of the game.
Being in high school and managing an intense training load, Tia couldn’t be able to do everything she does without her biggest supporters. Tia’s family especially her mum and brother are always on the side-lines cheering her on and motivating her to be the best she can be.
Tia has recently come back from representing Queensland at the 2022 Netball Australia 17/U National Championships. The team finished up with a bronze medal. After a gutsy performance against NSW in the semi-final, losing in over time to qualify for the Grand Final.
We chatted to Tia about her experience and what she learnt from representing Queensland.
“Nationals was definitely a different experience! The games felt faster, crowds were louder, and the teams were a lot more physical. But nationals was so much fun! I got to see sites I’ve never seen before, I got to learn more about how I play, and my hold, and most importantly I got to make new friendships with my team.”
“I learnt from representing QLD that I am an asset on the court, and that even if I was too make a silly mistake, I have my team, and everyone else backing me up. I learnt that even in the crucial moments, I just need to take a breath before releasing my shot, blocking out the crowds and all the noise.”
On Sunday Tia, made not only her Ruby debut for Tigers, but also made an impact as she took the court for her debut in Sapphire. An absolute force, we can’t wait to see what 2022 brings for Tia.
